Be. Here. Now. - Taking Ownership of Your Present

Be. Here. Now. - Taking Ownership of Your Present

We exist in the world. We are a part of it, not a separate observer. And everything we do affects everything around us. The way we move. The words we use. The thoughts and feelings we put out into the universe are like ripples on a lake; spreading out in every direction and touching all those around us.

When we realize that we are connected to everyone and everything else, we become aware that we own a piece of the present. We move the story of the world forward along with everyone else on the planet. And embracing that realization can be the start of a huge shift in thinking, feeling, and being.

This experience will explore the concept of mindfulness, meditation, movement, and how being present and aware of our place in the world and our connection to self and others is the beginning of ownership and responsibility. You will take with you:

-more mindful sense of self
-deeper mind/body connection
-improved self-talk
-improved emotional connection
-improved conversation skills
-improved active listening skills
-deeper understanding of the mind/body/spirit connection

Do What You Do: Finding the Right Job for You

“Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.”

Although this may be true for a few, the rest of us struggle with finding a job that pays the bills and doesn’t crush our souls. Why is it so important to LOVE your job? And why is it so hard to find a job that we CAN love?

This experience will walk you through a spirited discussion about work, the difference between a job and a hobby, and what to look for when on the hunt for a new position. There will also participate in interactive activities to focus you on who you are as an individual, how you communicate, and where you fit in with a larger group.

Presented in partnership with Tribe12.

It’s Monoscene Mondays at Lit! In improv speak, a monoscene is one long 20 minute scene with no breaks or edits. It’s essentially a one act play made up on the spot. And from this actors can learn a lot about character, story, and patience. As for real world skills, a monoscene can:

-improve conversations skills
-improve active listening skills
-teach patience and mindfulness
-teach ownership of ideas and choices
-improve the mind, body, spirit connection

We will explore the long form monoscene format during this 6-week course. Mondays 7:00-9:00pm.

Please Note: A fundamental understanding of improv is required for this course. If you’re interested, Lit offers a Fundamentals class to teach you all the basics.
